Theme 8: SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY & SOCIETY
Explanation: Scientific research often leads to technological advances that can have positive and/or negative impacts upon society as a whole.
Clarification: You would post here examples of how technological innovations have helped advance science whil ethose technolical accomplishments may have also had either beneficial or deleterious impacts on human society.

The development of microscopes enabled us to study the cell in much more depth; tool that lead to the understanding that cells are the basic unit of life.
The development of the laser beam lead us to perform surgeries on the parts of the human body that we thought were extremely sensitive and easily damaged. An example includes laser eye treatment.
One way to study the shape of something as small as a protein is to look at it with very short wavelength energy, like X-rays. X-ray diffraction allows the investigator to build up a three dimensional picture of the position of each atom. Through this we found that in every protein studied, essentially all the internal amino acids are nonpolar ones.
The invention of stents were an extreme help in the field of medicine, especially in cardiology. This procedure uses a wire mesh tube to prop open an artery that has recently been cleared using angioplasty. This stent prevents the artery from clogging up or closing in the future.
The development of telescopes, enabled us to view the stars, the moon, and other objects in space.
advances in working with in vitro fertilization have helped many families that could not create life on their own to be able to have a baby; however, many are against the idea and think it has negative moral impacts on society
This is probably wrong but computers seem like something important to science, technology & society. IT makes data taking easier, and also makes worldwide publication of data easier, and also now more people can get there hands on the results of these experiments. People who want to learn stuff can use it too
