Theme 4: CONTINUITY & CHANGE

Theme 4: CONTINUITY & CHANGE
Explanation: All species tend to maintain themselves from generation to generation using the same genetic code. However, there are genetic mechanisms that lead to change over time, or evolution.
Clarification: You would post here examples of how organisms reproduce while maintaining the same genetic information from generation to generation AND also examples of how organisms reproduce while accumulating changes to their genetic information from generation to generation.

All organisms reproduce to pass down their genes to the next generation. The same genes gets passed down but variations occur when you have one partner giving half of its genes and one partner giving half. When you have this you get different combinations thus creating variations amongst the new generation.

During meiosis and mitosis mutations within chromosomes can make changes within organism that wither favor them or not. The difference of one chromosome can give mental defects to organisms or give them super powers
